SRS

What is SRS?

SRS stands for 'Shared Registration System' or 'Shared Registry System'. As the name suggests, it is a shared system for performing domain name registrations. The very first SRS originated in 1999 for .com, .net, and .org, allowing the possibility of registering domain names through other companies (registrars). Before that, this was only possible at the registry itself. Nowadays, many registries of domain name extensions have an SRS. It is possible to register domain names through protocols like RRP and EPP (and/or via an API) with these registries. Strictly speaking, SRS is therefore only a system between registry and registrar.

What is Yocto Onoma SRS (Yocto SRS)?

Yocto Onoma SRS (also known as Yocto SRS) is Yocto's SRS implementation under the Onoma service. Through this service, it is possible for everyone to register domain names. In most cases, Yocto acts as a registrar or reseller if Yocto (yet) is not a registrar for a particular domain name extension. In case Yocto is the RSP for a particular domain name extension, Yocto functions as the registry and the application will be processed directly internally. In addition to the website/app, it is also possible to perform registrations through the Yocto API.
